Product Description
Applications of medical tungsten alloy shielding parts
Medical tungsten alloy shielding parts are mainly used in nuclear medicine as radiation shielding materials for radiotherapy of cancer tumors, medical imaging, and radioactive tracing. Medical tungsten alloy shielding parts can be used for collimators, nuclear radiation shielding parts, ray blockers, PET syringe shielding parts, protection tanks, radioactive isotope containers, deoxyribonucleic acid (FDG) containers, multi-leaf collimators, etc.
Radiotherapy
Medical tungsten alloy shielding parts can be used as shielding materials for medical linear accelerators, medical multi-leaf gratings, X-ray therapy machines and other medical devices, and are often used in radiotherapy. Radiotherapy is the treatment of malignant tumors and some benign diseases using one or more types of ionizing radiation. The means of radiotherapy is ionizing radiation. The commonly used direct ionizing particles in radiotherapy are electrons. The X-ray energy range used in radiotherapy is 1-25MV. Tungsten alloy radiotherapy shielding parts can narrow the particle beam or light wave, so that the particle ray follows a specific direction, that is, only the ray parallel to the treatment shielding part is allowed to pass, or the spatial cross-section beam becomes narrower to limit the amount of radiation.
Medical imaging
Medical tungsten alloy shielding parts can be used as shielding parts for CT tomographic scanners. CT scanners can generate X-rays, which is a powerful electromagnetic energy. This higher energy level allows X-rays to pass directly through most of the soft tissues of the human body. The rays penetrating the human body will be absorbed by the tungsten radiation shielding part, and the obtained data will be transmitted to the computer for imaging using the principle of light and shadow.
Radioactive tracing
Medical tungsten alloy shielding parts can be used as shielding parts for extraction shielding syringes and PET shielding syringes. The extraction shielding syringe has a 2mm thick tungsten alloy part. When the syringe extracts radioactive drugs, this part can protect the arm from radiation. When the drug is injected into the human body, the tungsten alloy part can be removed. A 9mm thick 5.2g/cc tungsten alloy shielding part can provide maximum protection and is very easy to disassemble. There is a knob on the shielding part, which can firmly fix the shielding part and the syringe.
